My Logo Design

When I thought about creating my own logo for this project, I first had to think about what kind of company or product would I want? What do I like that's exciting, and what would create drive and excitement for that. There's nothing more I love doing than riding my ATV in the mud and on trails. I loved playing in dirt as a small child and I still do!

I turn this...

Into This!

This process started at work, where I spend most of my time, unfortunately. I started doodling on sticky notes. I know most off-road racing products that stick in are three letter logos, like FMF and HMF Racing. So I figured, why not one letter? So I went with M. It's simplistic yet easy to remember with a nice logo to follow it up.

I discovered that a letter is powerful, in how it presents itself. So I went with the M that reflected that. Racing parts and clothing need to be durable and with stand punishment, and actually give punishment back to those elements which try to breakdown our equipment. So I made the M like a sword, powerful and sharp edges. The design is clean and to the point, literally!

Final Logo

I learned through power points and videos how logos and symbols appeal to people by their design, direction of movement and shape. People associate with designs from experience and gain loyalty or hatred of them depending on these experiences. Logos are used from signs that re meant to obey, to symbols or emblems of heritages and bloodlines. We see and react to logos everyday and in many different ways. Since the beginning time we have sought to communicate with logos and signs.

Shading between the lines and mixing to paint

1. Discuss what you thought about creating the Value Scale and Color Wheel.
Honestly, I had a hard time with the color wheel. I’m 32, and I haven’t painted since I was 16. So I had a hard time with mixing the colors. They were also cheap acrylics, so I think the color accuracy was a little off. I had an easier time with drawing, and that used to be one of my best talents in art. Still a little rusty though.
2. Which media did you enjoy working with the best and why?
I would say I would have liked paint better, especially if I had an easier time mixing them. Did anyone else have issues?
3. What was the most important discovery in the creation of these studies?
I would have to say that I’ve always thought cyan, magenta, and yellow made up the primary colors.
4. What is the most important information you learned from watching the videos for this project? What is your opinion of the videos?
I’m a visual person, so watching, and then doing a project is easier for me than verbal or written instructions. The videos were a bit dry, not as cool as a Bob Ross video, but they were very helpful to me.

My Slideshow on Elements and Principles of Art

I love nature and how artistic it can be. What better place to shoot photos for this project than Allegany. So here I am sitting in a small resturant in Bradford, just to get a wireless signal to submit the photographs I took this weekend. The other photos are form my saltwater tank and flower garden at home. I'm running out of battery, so enjoy!

Colors define emotion

Questions and Topics for Your Blog Posting:
1. Describe Color and its effects on emotions. Use the appropriate vocabulary of color in your posting.
Color can affect your emotions whether it excites your emotions or depresses them.  Bright vibrant red can invoke passion, where blues can be depressing.  In the video the lady was not only inspired and passion filled by color, she also became frustrated by them, when she took a good look at her painting.  Colors bring out emotion in many different ways.
2. What is a theoretical aspect of color that most intrigues/fascinates you? Why?
The moods colors put me in most fascinate me.  Like when I’m in my garden I’m surrounded by green plants and colorful flowers.  It makes me feel refreshed and rejuvenated.  At the same time for example winter time, the colors are so gray and drab, which makes me feel depressed.  I just think it’s so amazing what affect your environment and color have on you.
3. In the Color video, what made the biggest impact on you in regards to color and its effects on emotions?
The woman in the video was definitely a “color junky.”  She was so obsessed she could think of nothing else, and it was evident in the state of her home.  I was amazed by the extreme effects her obsession of color and her perfectionism with the mood the colors n her art project.
4. In the Feelings video, what made the biggest impact on you in regards to color and its effects on emotions?
Goya’s black paintings ad the biggest impact on me in regards to emotion.  It affected my by giving me feelings of despair, corruption, and darkness.  Color is everything when setting the tone in a work of art.
